Organization System For Recipes
Over the weekend a reader asked me how I organize and store recipes I clip from magazines. I have a stepwise system that seems to work for me so I thought I would share it with you.
One of my favorite things to do on a Saturday morning is to sit down in my pajamas with a cup of coffee, browse through food and style magazines, and clip inspiring images and recipes.
I store recipes in a clear folders and I use the same system for fashion/style inspiration, and my receipts. I would prefer to display a few items of interest and inspiration on a board but I have not found a cute inspiration board yet for my home office. Any recommendations?
I keep the folders next to my stack of unread magazines and pull the recipes when I am in the mood to try something new.
Once I try a recipe and like it enough to make it again it goes right into this recipe book, a gift given to me years ago at my wedding shower. I admit sometimes my clear folder gets full so I end up taking the clipped recipes and inserting them into the front pocket of the binder until I decide to either make the recipe or discard it.
I like to use top loading clear sheet protectors so the actual recipe page remain clean and so I can easily wipe the sheet protector if necessary. I also like the flexibility of removing the recipe from the protector if I want to jot down additional notes.
I store my recipe book in the kitchen with a few of my other favorite cookbooks. My recipe book is simple and basic but somehow it has become one my favorite books. It might be because the book is full of wonderful culinary secrets from friends and family combined with my own cooking adventures. Or maybe it is because this is the kind of book I can pass down to Ariyana one day.
